Welcome to the webpage “Study in Yuen Long South – Growth Vs. Sprawl”.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the urban expansion issue in Yuen Long South and to understand its cause and current situation in Hong Kong. After reviewing the situation, the project then evaluates and identifies the possible solutions for the problems.

HISTORY

Yuen Long has a rich historic background; its market town is one of the new town developments that started in 1970s. Because of its long history, the district has a historic center within the urban area.
Yuen Long actually consists of two new town development – the Yuen Long Town and the Tin Shiu Wai Town. As a long developed new town, Yuen Long Town was under the stress of providing housing and sufficient community space and Tin Shui Wan Town is therefore the planned area to support the a good mix of housing and community facilities for residents in Yuen Long.

About Me

I am currently majoring Urban Studies under the Deartment of Urban planning and Design in the University of Hong Kong. This website is done to investigate one urban issue occured in Hong Kong now.
